About AIS

The Aeronautical Information Service (AIS Poland) is  a service established in the designated area, responsible for provision of aeronautical information and data necessary to ensure safety, regularity and efficiency of air navigation for the entire territory of Poland and the airspace of the high seas under Polish jurisdiction.

AIS is a special Polish Air Navigation Services Agency’s authority, designated to ensure aeronautical information service in Poland.

Standards and Recommended Practices for aeronautical information services were first adopted by the Council on 15 May 1953, pursuant to the provisions of Article 37 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, and were designated as Annex 15 to the Convention.

The AIS shall ensure aeronautical data and aeronautical information are made available in a form suitable for the operational requirements of the air traffic management (ATM) community, including:
a) those involved in flight operations, including flight crews, flight planning and flight simulators;
b) ATS units responsible for flight information service and the services responsible for pre-flight information.

The AIS in Poland is responsible in particular for:

  • collection and publication of information pertinent to the safety, regularity and efficiency of air navigation;
  • origination and distribution of an aeronautical information products such as, Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP Poland), including Supplements and Aeronautical Information Circulars (AIC);
  • issuance of NOTAM for the Polish airspace (FIR Warszawa). NOTAM messages in FIR Warszawa are issued by the International NOTAM Office in series – A, P, B, C, M, D, N, E, U, H, L, F, G, J and S (SNOWTAM) through the European AIS Database [EAD];
  • origination and distribution of aeronautical charts;
  • origination and distribution of digital data sets;
  • providing ATM systems with aeronautical data;
  • provision of aeronautical information.
